Meet Brendel Macalino - NetSuite Consultant

Meet Our GameChanger, Brendel Macalino – NetSuite Consultant at Plative!

What do you do at Plative?

  • I am a NetSuite Consultant. That means my day-to-day consists of internal sync meetings, meetings with clients, and regular discussions with my direct teammates
  • I also help with Q/A work on implementations, functional consulting for clients, and NetSuite development work using workflows and SuiteScript

Fun Facts:

  • During the beginning of the pandemic I streamed video games – I specialized in ‘Mobile Legends’ and it was a fun way to help me earn some pocket money!
  • I’ve hosted some pretty big events: while in university I hosted the Microsoft Imagine Camp (among others) and I also hosted my brother’s wedding
  • I am the biggest Taylor Swift fan! She has a new album coming out that I am very excited about!

What’s your favorite thing to do where you currently live?

  • I’m currently based in a city, and during the weekends, I love to go out to clubs with my friends
  • We made a big push to reconnect after the pandemic restrictions eased up, which was made easy by the booming nightlife
  • We usually just go to chill out and listen to the DJs
  • Since Plative is a remote-first environment, I actually split my time living in two places, one being Metro Manila, the other is a city called Subic
  • Subic is a former US naval base, and it has some amazing beaches where you can watch the sunsets. I love going to visit on the weekends, and it’s only a two hour drive from the city.

What would you do if you didn’t choose your career path?

  • I would definitely be either a journalist or a social media manager for a company. I was the managing editor for my school publication, and would frequently enter into article writing competitions. I actually won a few! I would like to focus on writing science and tech articles.

What is your most unusual or hidden talent?

  • My hidden talent is that I play the ukulele. I initially gravitated towards it as I felt the guitar was too big
  • I play all sorts of music (mostly Taylor Swift!) and I enjoy sitting on my balcony outside to practice and enjoy nature at the same time
