Here at Plative, we embrace the #WorkFromAnywhere lifestyle. We have 5 global offices, but our work from anywhere policy allows us to have a remote workforce and enables our employees to do their best work from wherever they are inspired to do it. When COVID-19 hit many companies had to adapt to remote working. As the world begins to move on from the pandemic, we will see this shift to remote working stick around.
With #WorkFromAnywhere being ingrained in Plative’s culture, we put together four tips for working remotely to help you stay productive and organized as you work from home.
Create a dedicated workspace
Set up a space that is specifically for work and only work. It will help you minimize distractions and keep your work separate from your personal life. Your workspace can be a home office, a desk in the corner of a room, or even a section of your kitchen counter.
Set a schedule & establish a routine
The benefit of working remotely is having flexibility, but we recommend creating a schedule that works for you and sticking to it as much as possible. Having a defined schedule for when to work and when to call it a day helps you separate your personal life from your work life.
Along with a set schedule, a routine will help you transition in and out of work mode. If you worked at an office, you most likely had a routine around a commute, dropping kids off at school, or grabbing coffee. When you work from home, do the same and establish a morning and an end-of-day routine. It can be as simple as waking up, making breakfast, going for a walk, or meditating.
Setting a schedule and routine helps Plative working parents like Sue –
“It’s tough being a working parent, but it’s even more difficult managing the kids’ remote schooling and extracurricular activities while continuing to deliver at work. Setting a routine for home and work-related activities to help separate my parenting and business roles and allows me to fully concentrate on one role for a set amount of time.” – Sue Bhuvan, NetSuite Consultant
Practice self-care
It’s easy to be hyper-focused when working remotely so sometimes you forget to eat, drink water or even get up from your desk. It’s really important to take care of your health and well-being, so be proactive and put blocks in your schedule or set a reminder on your phone to take a break. Incorporate a walk, stretching, or lunch break into your daily routine!
Be social
Social engagements are important for mental health and collaboration so make sure to connect with others, inside and outside of work. During work, engage in your chat platform, turn your camera on during video meetings, and participate in company activities. Utilize social media and video calls to interact with others – plan a virtual happy hour or game night with friends and family.
It’s important to have team members who are happy and healthy and to help facilitate a work from home environment that enables them to work efficiently and effectively. We hope these tips will help you be more successful in working from home!
